Framed: 30 1/2 x 24 1/2 inches.Sheet: 28 1/2 x 22 1/4 inches.Largely good condition. Paper is toned with light and time. 4 inch crease at top left of image area. Other scattered light creases are apparent throughout margins, including along extreme edges. See photos for details. Please note that this work was not removed from its frame.Inscription on loose paper, taped to verso, reads: 'Hello there stage - genius - presence. This little gift lithograph is because you are the best.... / love ever, Kitaji / NYC January 1979'

Kitaj and Mr. Grey met as children in grammar school in Cleveland, Ohio, reconnecting years later as adults when Grey- by then an admirer of great artists- was struck to discover that “Ronnie Kitaj” had become the renowned R.B. Kitaj. A joyful reunion in London marked the rekindling of a deep bond. Reflecting on their reunion, Grey recalled embracing Kitaj at a gallery opening “as if we had seen each other the day before. I loved him very much."
